About Dreamfactory

DreamFactory Software is the world's leading publisher of rich applications devoted to maximizing cloud computing deployments. Used by over 10,000 businesses, our Cloud Development Platform and integrated DreamTeam collaboration suite enable enterprises to deliver immediate results on Force.com, Windows Azure, Cisco Connect, Intuit Platform and Amazon Web Services.

Making software’s next leap

Software products have traditionally been engineered as standalone applications, disconnected from other applications and uncooperative with the broader business processes of the enterprise.

To a large extent this pattern grew out of the limitations of legacy platforms- PC and client-server- which were not designed to foster an ecosystem of interoperable enterprise solutions.

Emerging cloud platforms offer a better foundation and are changing the way applications are delivered by offering ISVs and corporate developers utility services that bake information sharing and process collaboration into their apps. This dramatically streamlines IT deployments by sharing assets that would otherwise be redundant, and eliminates a middleware requirement to connect applications.

The web provides a disruptive delivery platform for groupware

The web provides a disruptive delivery platform by offering a “zero” implementation model for easy access groupware. This is a dramatic departure from legacy platforms which required a significant upfront investment in implementation services to deliver applications that were collaborative and cooperative. Prior to web architectures, for example, getting your SFA system installed and available to multiple offices could take months or longer, and even then it was an island of automation. By contrast, in today’s environment you simply sign-up on the web and your remote offices are instantly sharing information and able to fully interoperate with other enterprise groupware such as project management. The result is that the web has democratized enterprise applications, and made them accessible to organizations of all sizes.

Shared services architecture + web delivery is a one-two punch

While service architectures have been around for decades, the combination with web delivery has created the one-two punch of SaaS. Aka Multi-tenancy, this architecture enables tremendous economies of scale by deconstructing application systems into utility services that are shared across a broad community of users. For example, a leading SaaS vendor shares hosting services, data services, document services, security services etc. via a single implementation throughout their current customer base of 82,000 companies. The end result is far more efficient then if these same services were to be installed as 82,000 single tenant implementations.

PaaS extends SaaS to enable an ecosystem

Platforms as a Service (PaaS) extend the utility services of SaaS to third party developers, enabling an ecosystem of cooperative applications. In this new generation of computing platforms application integration is inherent, blurring the distinction between applications added to the platform and those delivered with the platform. Many ecosystems use the term “Native” to underscore this distinction of apps that are multi-tenant citizens of an ecosystem.

Native ISV’s and corporate developers focus on added value capabilities and inherit all of the features of the platform, providing the end user with much richer apps that cooperate out of the box.

Applications benefit from a single data store, eliminating redundancy and multiple entries, and providing customers with a single system of record for their critical business information.

As the platform expands, the applications expand with little or no engineering required. For example, as platforms become “social”, native applications inherit these capabilities and are full participants in social processes.

Public and Private cloud implementations converge

The convergence of Public and Private Cloud architectures has facilitated PaaS deployments on both sides of the firewall. Common implementation details include utility based services, server virtualization, self provisioned applications, multi-tenancy, and usage based metering.

DreamFactory was developed to maximize cloud deployments

DreamFactory was purpose built to deliver applications on service based clouds. Whether private or public, our mission is to maximize an enterprise’s value in their cloud computing initiatives. We offer a mature platform to develop cloud computing applications and an integrated collaboration suite to provide immediate results on the platform of choice.

With our unique no-tier architecture, DreamFactory’s platform directly connects browser apps to cloud computing services without the need for a middle tier. This enables an “Ipad like” device-direct programming model for enterprise clouds.

The DreamFactory approach offers key advantages in flexibility, scalability, and security.

Flexibility Our write-once-connect-anywhere platform offers a no lock-in approach for deploying enterprise applications on any cloud from a single code base.

Scalability Our no-tier architecture eliminates superfluous servers allowing our applications to scale with the host platform without adding a drag on performance or impacting service levels.

Security Our no-tier architecture offers the most secure approach by enabling 100% in-cloud delivery, doing away with any additional hosting centers that can put your critical business and authentication data at risk.

DreamFactory delivers immediate results for cloud initiatives

DreamFactory’s teamware and power tools suite allows the entire enterprise to deliver immediate results with packaged productivity applications that plug directly in to your cloud.

The DreamFactory suite includes project, document, and performance management for teams; release management and data migration for admins; visual studio for operations; and cloud development for IT.
